Quiet for the time of year

Except for the US routes, October was a disappointing month and cargo volumes were low. In the US, tightness was felt on almost every trade lane. The USG/Far East route registered steady gains, with 5,000t parcels Houston/MPFE fetching low-mid $90s. The end of year inventory shift appears to have come early. USG/lndia-MEG was also tight for much of the month and outsiders had to be drafted on berth to satisfy demand. As much as 30,000t base oils were fixed to India on a single ship which is probably a record, with the freight reported in the low $80s/t.
