Multiple almost Einstein structures with intersecting scale singularities

We characterise the S l -doubling construction of Leitner (J Geom Phys 60:1558–1575, 2010) by the existence of multiple almost Einstein structures with intersecting scale singularities and identify the scale singularity as minimal submanifold with respect to certain metrics in the underlying conformal class. In the forthcoming paper Armstrong (Math Nachr, to appear, 2011) we use this characterisation for a complete geometric description of closed Riemannian conformal manifolds with decomposable holonomy.
