ROYAL OPENING AT DONCASTER

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal opened a new workshop at Wabtec's Doncaster facility on 9 September. David Woolhouse, Managing Director of the Doncaster site, hailed the new facility as good news for the local economy and the supply chain, with some 200 jobs secured by the investment. Wabtec undertakes vehicle refurbishments and upgrades on a range of fleets for various owning companies and says the decision to open the new shop was driven by the growth in demand in this sector and the company's need for extra capacity. The project on show when Princess Anne visited the site was the Class 321 'Renatus'overhaul for owner Eversholt that is to be undertaken in the new shop. As reported last month (p91), this project covers 30 EMUs currently in service with Abellio Greater Anglia.
