As the demand for greater capacity across UK rail continues, performance improvement is receiving an ever-sharper focus to meet the challenge. The move to a Right Time railway and an understanding of sub-threshold delays and intra-berth movements will open capacity windows, but for these regimes to succeed the industry must further embrace existing and future data sources and technologies across the entire network. Historically, the challenges in adopting these systems has been centred around making sense of large amounts of data, and integrating disparate systems to work together in providing fleet-wide insights into performance, with granular-level trends to identify the root cause of issues.
