A BITTER personal dispute has erupted in the RMT union that has led to the resignation of Assistant General Secretary Mick Lynch, who was covering for the long-term sickness absence of General Secretary Mick Cash. Mr Cash has been suffering from stress and depression, which Mr Lynch says is due to harassment and bullying by the union's National Executive Committee. In a lengthy resignation letter to union president Michelle Rodgers, Mr Lynch berates her for a 'failure by yourself, and the NEC over which you preside, to give even limited support to the post-holders'. He says that while'the main motivation and interest of our NEC seems to be the internal and staffing matters of our own organisation as a means to attack the General Secretary almost constantly... They seem as a body, almost oblivious and unconcerned as to what could be existential threats to our organisation.'
