Based in Gainesville, Fla., Exactech manufactures and distributes orthopedic devices and surgical instrumentation to hospitals and physicians across the country. The mission there was simple: Improve the labor-intensive, hand-picking system to fill orders faster and more efficiently, while establishing an energy-saving, eco-friendly workplace for more than 200 employees. It was apparent this wouldn't be possible in Exactech's 12,000-square-foot site, so the company shifted the operation to a new 25,000-square-foot building. The larger facility would allow for more automation, which was needed to accomplish their goals.
