Water Quality Investigations of Njaba and Imo rivers, Imo State, Nigeria

A survey of Njaba and Imo rivers were conducted in order to establish the current levels of pollution. An attempt has been made to show the relationship between pollution levels, population density, industrial and agricultural activities. The pH Value, total dissolve solids, total suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, hardness ions, alkalinity, non-metallic and metallic ions were analysed for the two water samples from Njaba and Imo rivers of Imo state. The results were evaluated in the light of World Health Organization standards and the water found almost potable for humans. A preventive measure for arresting pollution levels in fast growing urban centres has been emphasized.
