Model railroaders spend a lot of time getting things to look just right. We meticulously paint, weather, and construct to make our layout as realistic as possible. But the plain drywall or cin-derblock wall often found behind the layout only detracts from our efforts. Adding a backdrop is a great way to finish the picture. A backdrop, complete with painted-on scenery, expands a layout by creating an illusion of distance and depth. Artist's acrylic paints make it easy to paint a scenic backdrop. This medium works great in conjunction with the popular water-based methods used for most scenery construction today.
