With ever-more-restrictive zoning requirements and a host of new operators vying to install thousands of new sites in every large city, tools to increase flexibility in site locations without deteriorating capacity or service quality are a welcome asset. Wireless communication services continue to grow exponentially as the trend continues toward lower-power portable phones to replace higher-power mobiles. Consequently, spectrum congestion worsens and interference increases even as the transmit power of the remote units for the various wireless services continues to decrease.
