A vital support in rural Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire's Falls Response Unit provides a crucial service for many older residents who might find themselves stranded and waiting for help. This innovative approach ensures a safe health and social care response for Lincolnshire people who have a fall. It involves Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Services (LIVES) first responders being trained and supported to attend adults who fall and then either call for an ambulance or an ambulance is called on their behalf.Back in December 2018 we introduced a pilot scheme to respond to long delays experienced by residents who take a fall and the consequent need for other services and possible hospital treatment.We wanted to stop calls clogging up emergency services and preventing ambulances from getting to more critical incidents where patients might need life-saving support.So we worked with partners and arranged a grant agreement between the county council and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), to introduce the Falls Response Service sub-contracted to LIVES.
