Former communities secretary Sajid Javid has called for a 'fresh look at local government'. In an interview coinciding with the virtual Conservative Party conference, Mr Javid said the sector's structure was 'fragmented and confusing' and the delayed White Paper on I devolution should be a 'priority'. Mr Javid said: 'There does need to be a fresh look at local government and how it's set up. We are very fragmented as a country when it comes to local government and with multiple layers that can be quite confusing, but I think that should all be looked at together with devolving power.
