Still no cash to fund high streets' future

Funding to help boost the high street has not been paid to councils more than a year after it was announced, The MJ has learned. The £675m Future High Streets Fund was announced in the 2018 Budget, calling for councils to bid for cash to help reinvigorate struggling high streets. On 9 July 2019, the then minister Jake Berry announced more than 50 places would go on to the next stage of the process, developing a business case and in August 2019 the list was expanded further to include another 50 places.
