‘We must do more than tinker at the edges’

The beginning of a new year always brings with it a sense of renewed hope. After three-and-a-half years of domestic policy being overshadowed by Brexit there is some optimism ministers and civil servants might soon have greater capacity to focus on issues closer to home. Regardless of whether that hope becomes a reality or not there are certain issues which cannot, and should not, be ignored by the new Government. High on that list is the funding crisis surrounding special educational needs and disabilities in children, as highlighted in this week’s The MJ (left).
