In the corner of south east London, just by the river, is the London Borough of Bexley. Sitting on the edge of the city it is, its chief executive Jackie Belton explains, 'the best bits of both London and Kent' -both in its geography and its psyche. 'Bexley is a relatively small council compared with some of the other London boroughs, but there is a real opportunity to come here and make a difference,' Jackie says. She has been in post for just over a year and has a strong corporate leadership team, and is now looking to fill the gaps in the extended leadership team. The council is looking to recruit to a number of roles that are vacant - with recruitment placed on hold when the coronavirus crisis first hit. Now the council is keen to progress, get the vacancies filled and move forward at pace. There is lots to do! Bexley needs a new Director of Place, to lead the borough forward, helping it rebuild, respond to and flourish after the pandemic. It's also recruiting three Deputy Directors - for Adult Social Care, Finance & Property and for Educational Achievement & Inclusion - and it is looking for a Head of Housing Services.
