Caring is sharing in the South West

In the South West, we're all working to do things better, drive improvements and deliver better outcomes. When you're focused like that it's all too easy to look inwards rather than outwards. But a new network of assistant directors - sponsored by directors - across all authorities throughout the region was put in place so that we can consciously collaborate and learn from each other. At the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) spring seminar, three of us who are involved in the process took the opportunity to outline the story so far to delegates: Director of adult social care at Somerset CC Stephen Chandler, deputy director of adult social care at Gloucestershire CC Mark Branton, and myself, as the assistant director of adult social care at Somerset CC.
