Contrary to your news in brief item last week, Westminster City Council's satlav scheme, where users can be sent a text with details of their nearest public toilet, is not an increased charge to our customers. The text may cost 25P, but the service is a new one, which people choose to use. And each text sent actually costs the council a further 9P. No income is generated. We're proud of our toilet provision. We have more quality public toilets than any other local authority in England, used by 15 million people a year, and we spend ￡2.6m a year maintaining them.
