Chairman, Worcestershire CC's overview and scrutiny steering committee I read the feature from Nick Raynsford MP on scrutiny ('Looking outside the tribe', The MJ, 7 February) with great interest. There's no doubting that adopting the principles of scrutiny into the democratic process has produced widely varying results across the country, and at contrasting speeds, too. It's certainly been a challenge for all those councillors steeped in the tradition of the committee system. At Worcestershire CC we believe we've embraced the concept of scrutiny with open arms and are making the scrutiny system work for us, rather than having to do all the work for the scrutiny system. Our reviews have already led to service improvements across the board.
