CIPFA to tighten prudential code

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has pledged to 'toughen' the prudential code amid claims councils are 'betting billions' on property purchases. Speaking at CIPFA's annual conference last week, director of local government, Sean Nolan, said the organisation, which is currently reviewing the code, would 'make best practice explicit'.
