Jeremy Corbyn has called for council outsourcing to be halted. Speaking last weekend at an Association of Labour Councillors conference, the Labour leader pledged to give local authorities 'greater freedoms to roll back the tide of forced privatisation'. Mr Corbyn also promised to give councils the power to take over energy and water firms. 'After a generation of forced privatisation and outsourcing of public services, the evidence has built up that handing services over to private companies routinely delivers poorer quality, higher cost, worse terms and conditions for the workforce, less transparency and less say for the public,' said the Labour leader.
