Atkins boss hails Northern 'spirit'

The Northern Powerhouse project is helping to create a 'real spirit of continued investment' in infrastructure, according to the UK boss of international engineering firm Atkins. Speaking to The MJ as the company announced a 14% rise in underlying pre-tax profits for 2014/15, Nick Roberts, who is the chief executive of Atkins' UK and European business said he really appreciates 'the steadfastness of the Government's messages around infrastructure spend as a key underpinning for economic growth'. 'We look at things like the Northern Powerhouse and we see, at both a national and local level, some real dedication to investment in infrastructure to create places people want to live and work,' Mr Roberts told The MJ.
