With a crucial election months away, 4Children believes that it is time for a shift of ambition in children and family policy.Polling consistently shows that almost half of families are finding life harder. In our most recent poll, more than a quarter of voters (27%) described themselves as just about coping; almost a quarter (23%) said they would like a greater commitment from political parties for better joined-up local services and 49% said political parties should do more for children and families.We know that families are carrying the greatest burden of austerity and as we move out of the economic crisis we need to invest in their futures. That is why 4Children has published a new manifesto for children and families during the next Parliament. We are calling for greater investment in the early years with a 10-year plan to deliver childcare for all children aged up to 14.
