Comeback for committee system

Stroud DC has voted to move to a committee system of local governance from May 2013. The authority currently uses a leader and cabinet model. A working group has been set up to finalise operation of the new system, which will come into effect after the local authority's next annual meeting. "The new system we have introduced will engage more councillors in decision-making and ensure that all 51 of them are able to contribute their talents,' said council leader, Cllr Geoff Wheeler.
