Having seen my council described in the last week as everything from 'the police state' to 'the halfwits of Westminster', can I offer some perspective on the high-decibel row that followed the decision by the organiser to end 'the Boss' Bruce Springsteen's rock concert after it overran.As chairman of licensing at Westminster City Council, I oversaw the decision to licence these concerts in London's Hyde Park. It is worth noting the shows involved were not just pop singer Madonna and Mr Springsteen.
