Teenagers from the richest 20% of families are seven times more likely to get a place at the top universities than those from the poorest 40%. That is the conclusion of a report by the Office for Fair Access. There has been little progress on this in the last 20 years, it concludes.Here in Newham, the sixth-most deprived borough in the country, we are committed to changing this.We are continually improving our offer of information, advice and guidance so that young people can make informed decisions. We provide a wide curriculum and believe early intervention is crucial.
