The next few years will see significant growth in both the size and importance of e-recruitment. The case studies speakfor themselves. We are now seeing e-recruitment producing significant cashable savings for local authorities such as reduced postage costs and staff costs, in addition to non- cashable productivity gains as staff are freed up to carry out higher value tasks.The challenge faced by the largest employer in Wales, Cardiff Council, was to move from a completely paper based end-to-end recruitment process to an online version, set against its obligations under the Welsh Language Act 1993. Within two months of the new system's launch, paper applications had slowed to a trickle and online application rates had grown to exceed 90%. The benefit realisation was instant - significant decreases in overhead spend and also reductions in staffing. Robert Jeffery, the e-recruitment project lead at Cardiff told us: 'The bi-lingual website and back office system developed by Tribal Resourcing offers candidates the opportunity to apply and be communicated with in either English or Welsh, and has earned the congratulations of the Welsh Language Board.'
