IT chiefs have warned that 'place-based' public services will not work unless councils understand the value of information and how it should be managed. A new report from Socitm, entitled Too many cooks: the information management implications of place-based publicservices, predicted that any savings from these projects could be lost otherwise.'If we are to protect the frontline despite the cuts, local, joined up, evidence-based approaches are essential' says report author Chris Head.
