The agenda is delivery

While attention has been focused on the Thames Gateway's contribution to housing growth, the rest of London also has a huge part to play, through some 20 major schemes. And now, the boroughs leading these projects have formed a network to share common issues - the Major Projects Delivery Group. Between them, they represent projects delivering some 110,000 new homes, with a capital spend of ￡30bn. Membership criteria is that the projects must be local authority-led, include more than 2,000 homes and associated major social infrastructure, and meet the CLG mixed-communities agenda. Member boroughs are Hackney, Lewisham, Brent, Tower Hamlets, Cam-den, Greenwich, Dagenham, Islington, Barnet, Newham and Southwark, plus membership from regional and central government bodies. The group is chaired by Hackney's deputy mayor, Cllr Jamie Carswell, who also chairs the London Councils housing forum.
