Victory for LBC in child aid fight

Hillingdon LBC has won its battle with the Government to secure an extra ￡4m for budgets to cover the cost of supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. The authority had resorted to parliamentary lobbying and the High Court to convince ministers that it was a special case because it is the council responsible for London Heathrow, the world's busiest international airport. A problem resulting from the spread of global air travel has been mat the council now supports almost 1,000 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
