The number of local government managers reporting malpractice to whistleblowing charity Public Concern at Work (PCAW) rose last year, new figures shared with The MJ have revealed. Callers who described themselves as management went from 15% of the total in 2013 to 23% in 2014. PCAW legal research officer, Sam Bereket, said the trend was 'encouraging'. He said: 'The consequences for those more senior are often more serious. They are more likely to be dismissed. 'However, management needs to recognise that if they come across concerns there is a responsibility on them. We provide free, confidential, independent advice to help minimise the risks to them.
