The head of the Government's Troubled Families programme has expressed her confidence about the future of the initiative after ministers confirmed its expansion. Louise Casey told The MJ she 'felt a lot more confident' after the 'extraordinary achievement of turning round 53,000 families' and the announcement that a further 400,000 chaotic households will be helped. Ms Casey said: 'The Troubled Families programme will be three years old this November and at the start I didn't expect us to be talking about an expanded programme now. We have to make sure that we keep this work up.' The programme has so far identified nearly all of the 120,000 families that have been promised support.
