HR should be the tellers of truth

One of the first things we teach our children is the importance of truthfulness - whatever the cost or personal pain. How many times have we heard (or said!) Til be more cross with you if I find out that you are lying" or 'I'm very proud that you've had the courage to tell the truth'. And invariably the sanctions that follow tend to be more lenient if the wrongdoer has 'come clean' and shows genuine remorse for their actions: so deep rooted is our desire to provide the next generation with an unequivocal understanding of the importance of 'being truthful.
