The going's good at Doncaster

South Africa to Doncaster... It was quite a change of scene when I left Cape Town, where I had been employed as adviser to the city manager and mayor, to arrive in Doncaster - a stimulating, challenging and highly-progressive environment. In my new south Yorkshire home, I saw a place with huge potential and energy. Somewhere determined to throw off the mantel of the past and recreate itself as an area of vibrant economic and social growth. The conviction of local people was matched by the determination of the person they had elected to lead them - Martin Winter - one of the UK's first directly-elected mayors. Through him, there is a strong mandate for change. Not just in the regeneration of the community, but also in changing the face of Doncaster MBC.
