摘要

What do HR managers as the 'recruiting agents' look for when the CVs start stacking up on their desks? Angela O'Connor gives some views There is a huge discussion taking place in central government departments at the moment The climate is changing and civil servants are expected to become more professional in their approach. Nowhere is this more pertinent than in HR departments. When I joined the Crown Prosecution Service two years ago I was genuinely gob- smacked by how many of my HR staff had little or no HR experience, qualifications or even viewed themselves as belonging to the HR community. Most saw themselves as generic administrators, 'the gifted amateurs' often referred to in the civil service.
