Mayor launches drive to promote small city firms

London mayor, Boris Johnson, has pledged to get the capital to boost UK exports.In a bid to rebalance business away from financial services in the Square Mile, the mayor promised to do more to encourage smaller firms to market themselves around the globe.The Export Promotion Programme is aimed at boosting the ￡59bn of exports generated by London, as experts believe there is more untapped potential.Martin Cook, of UK Trade & Investment, the Government's international business development unit, said: 'We can do even more to grow London's export base and provide new opportunities for London firms, particularly in parts of the world where economies are still growing.'
