Barking and Dagenham LBC will not follow the example of other councils and model local authority services on the no-frills approach of budget airlines. At present, somecouncils are taking a radical approach to services to save money. For example, Suffolk CC is proposing to become a 'virtual' authority which outsources all but a handful of its services to companies and social enterprises.We will not go down the route of withdrawing from directly providing public services wholesale.We are not a council which sees outsourcing as the solution, and we will not pass the buck on our public service delivery responsibilities.
