摘要

Ben Page's SoapBox (The MJ, 14 April) comment that local authorities should try to take the lead from supermarkets in tough economic times really struck a chord with us here in Waltham Forest. Faced with the need to cut £65m from our budgets, a mounting social care bill and finding more efficient ways to deliver services, we've concentrated on residents' core needs, reviewing our priorities, agreeing a two-year budget and continuing to reorganise the organisation around a 'residents first' agenda.
