December 2010: Government announced settlement for 2011/12 and 2012/13, introduced a 12.1 % grant cut for 2011/12, and 7.7% cut for 2012/13. The Early Intervention Grant replaced several other funding streams and was cut by around £600m. The grant was then incorporated into general funding from 2013/14, with an additional cut of £220m. Academies' funding was top-sliced to the tune of £265m following £148m in 2011/12. This led to legal action and a partial refund. From 2013/14, £800m will go to local authorities and £200m will go to academies.
