The chief executive of Camden LBC has defended the size of chief officers' pension pots. Mike Cooke hit back at 'unfair' criticism by The Taxpayers' Alliance and some sections of the press. The pressure group argued that, with pension contributions factored in, many senior council officers are costing taxpayers mon than £200,000 a year. But, in evidence submitted to an ongoing communities and local government committee inquiry into council chief officers' remuneration, Mr Cooke insisted critics had 'misrepresented' the facts.
