摘要

Research carried out by the London School of Economics has revealed that some half a million older and disabled people who would have received care in 2009 are now no longer entitled to it. Furthermore, the Local Government Association and the Association of Adult Social Services believe there will be a £4.3bn black hole in social care by 2020. In South Tyneside, we know only too well about funding reductions in social care, having faced some of the harshest cuts in the country. However, our response has been pragmatic. By working collaboratively with our partners, we are using an innovative approach to deliver integrated services to ensure our residents can still be cared for.
