Supporting those on the front line

I was recently invited by Carers UK to speak at their State of Caring Conference. This is one of my priorities as Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) president, so I was grateful for the opportunity to join such an interesting conference. Over the years, social care has shifted its focus to community, home-based services, now funded and organised through personal care budgets. This has inevitably put the huge contribution that informal carers make to care in this country into sharp relief.
