Pressure is growing for tourist taxes in local government, following Edinburgh City Council's proposals. The Scottish capital is consulting on a 'transient visitor levy' (TVL) with a charge of either 2% or £2 per room per night, chargeable all year round on all forms of accommodation, capped at seven nights.
