LGA says most of council tax rise will go on pay

As much as 80% of planned council tax rises could be absorbed by increases in the minimum wage, say local government leaders. Under rules designed to ease the pressure on social care, local authorities will be allowed to increase council tax rates by up to 4.9% in April, or more if they hold a referendum, which is unlikely.
