Plans to require voters to provide ID before they can vote pose a serious risk to our democracy.A report published by the Electoral Commission in December 2015 found that approximately 3.5 million electors (7.5% of the electorate) do not have the recommended forms of photo ID.Those without these forms of ID, often from already disadvantaged groups, could be deprived of their democratic right to vote.
