Taking the bully by the horns

Far too often we hear of our chil-dren being the victims of bullying and having no-one to turn to, their young lives blighted by the arrogance and aggressiveness of others. I was very lucky as a youngster in being able to attend schools where this was not really an issue. Any incidents were isolated and infrequent. In later life I did not experience bullying in the workplace and admit to being surprised by how many of my colleagues - in the private, voluntary and other parts of the public sector, as well as local government -have recounted their own stories of how bad bullying is in their organisations. Then, earlier this year, I discovered it in my own.
