Sector's red tape 'involves 12.6m data entries'

More than 12 million 'boxes' have to be ticked by councils each year to meet Whitehall bureaucracy, according to council leaders. A new study by the Local Government Association (LGA) claims the average single-tier local authority has to report 43,000 separate pieces of information.
