Andy Sawford, chief executive of the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) think-tank, has said he is ready to battle for the parliamentary seat due to be vacated by Conservative MP Louise Mensch. Mrs Mensch has announced she will stand down as MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, after just two years, in order to move with her family to the United States.
