Councils told to rein in the bailiffs

Local authorities act far too quickly in setting bailiffs to work in collecting unpaid council tax, the leader of a national advice charity has warned. New figures issued by Citizens Advice on 13 August show parents are more likely to experience bailiffs chasing arrears, and there is little difference as to whether they are working households (46%) or unemployed families (54%).
