Schools' renewal produces pupils who prosper

The third most deprived area in Scotland is next to the top in the country for its pupils' attainment at Scottish Higher level. Such positive educational outcomes in Inverclyde reflect the priority that the council gives to education. It is a key player in the area's regeneration. The council has invested some ￡200 million in education over the last nine years - and has another￡50 million to invest in the years ahead. The money is financing the new-build or comprehensive refurbishment of all the council's primary and secondary schools - a programme that will be complete by 2020.
