The situation at Toddbrook Reservoir and the effect it has had on the town of Whaley Bridge and surrounding area, has been unprecedented and presented enormous challenges to all of the agencies involved, including Derbyshire CC. No-one should doubt the very real danger that Whaley Bridge was under. The evacuation, with all of its disruption to residents and businesses, was absolutely necessary. Many people stayed with friends and family in other parts of the county, which was a demonstration of our community spirit. Others, including those known to our social care services, were supported with accommodation and essential needs by the borough and district councils.
