STAGE ONE TUNING

Stage One tuning has been popular since the very early days of the Mini. The original kits supplied by BMC Special Tuning in Abingdon consisted of a polished cylinder head, a gas-flowed original cast inlet/ exhaust manifold and an improved exhaust system. Today's Stage One kits include an improved alloy inlet manifold, a freeflow airfilter, a different carburettor needle, an LCB (or Cooper Freeflow) exhaust manifold, a much-improved exhaust system but no head. Latter-day kits have the advantage of being much easier to fit, produce a good performance increase and the exhaust note sounds better.
